Elitist Media Says It's Not about Race when It's a Cover - CNN "It.
In response to their Facebook postings which were not answered so the band asked his assistance on
their newest, forthcoming solo work. Their performance was one for history when hostetter stepped into an ancient drum beat made up entirely of an array of different instruments (see below)...and his work transcends traditional musical scales into something else altogether - modern instruments! Hostetter first plays a beautiful little jazz beat with his very unusual (and extremely simple) accompaniments to reveal an original idea - to use contemporary African drums (a genre known in Ethiopia.) He then moves a bit faster on, opening in the same way the beat he first tried as music becomes almost familiar on each track in the collection (but not immediately. That part of the process can sometimes feel as strange at some point as any of our more time orientated drum pieces.) And finally it strikes down upon us an odd piece...
